BOSTON — Hanley Ramirez left with an illness at the start of the third inning of the Boston Red Sox’s annual Patriots’ Day game against the Baltimore Orioles on Monday at Fenway Park.

The newly signed left fielder was replaced by Allen Craig. Ramirez grounded out to first to end the inning in his only at-bat of the game in the bottom of the first.

Ramirez, 31, was tied for second in the majors with five home runs this season entering play. His five long balls have come in 11 games, the fewest it has taken him to reach that mark in his 11 seasons, and he is now only four homers shy of 200 for his career.

Ramirez is batting .255 (12-for-47) with 12 RBIs, four walks and five strikeouts in 53 plate appearances.
