RB Evans to return to Michigan

Michigan will reinstate running back Chris Evans to the school in time for the new academic term in January, and he will be able to return to the football team for the 2020 season, coach Jim Harbaugh announced Monday.

He was suspended from school for this calendar year for academic reasons, the Detroit News said Monday.

“We will welcome him back to the football team,” Harbaugh said. “He will be eligible to play.”

Evans has one year of eligibility remaining. He hasn’t taken part in team activities since at least February.

From Indianapolis, Evans was a four-star running back prospect in the Class of 2016.

In three seasons with the Wolverines, he played in 37 games, rushing for 1,722 yards and 14 touchdowns. He added 392 receiving yards and two touchdowns through the air.
