The Tampa Bay Rays acquired outfielder Oswaldo Arcia from the Minnesota Twins on Friday in a deal that will send a player to be named later or cash considerations to Minnesota.
The Twins had recently designated Arcia for assignment, but they found a trade partner in Tampa Bay.
To make room on their roster, the Rays have designated right-hander Andrew Bellatti for assignment.
Arcia, 25, was once considered a top prospect, and he hit .231 with 20 homers as the Twins’ regular right fielder in 2014. However, he played just 19 games with the Twins in 2015, hitting .276 with two homers, and was hitting .214 with four homers in 32 games this season.
