The Baltimore Ravens continued their overhaul on defense Wednesday, reaching an agreement with safety Michael Huff on a three-year deal.
Financial details weren’t announced by Ravens general manager and executive vice president Ozzie Newsome.
Huff, who was waived by the Oakland Raiders before the start of free agency, fills a position of need for the Ravens with starting safeties Ed Reed and Bernard Pollard gone from last season’s Super Bowl-winning team.
Since free agency began, the Ravens have added Huff, Elvis Dumervil, Chris Canty and Marcus Spears to replace the departed Reed, Pollard, Paul Kruger, Ray Lewis, Dannell Ellerbe and Cary Williams.
In seven seasons with the Oakland Raiders, the hard-hitting Huff started 93 games and racked up 453 tackles, 11 interceptions, 57 passes defensed, 5 1/2 sacks, four forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.
Huff, 29, started 14 games at cornerback last season as an injury fill-in and had 71 tackles, two interceptions and a career-high 15 passes defensed.
The former first-round draft pick and Jim Thorpe Award winner was named second-team All-Pro in 2010.
