Bobby Engram is returning to the NFL as wide receivers coach for the Baltimore Ravens, the team announced Tuesday.
Engram, 41, spent the past two seasons as the wide receivers coach at the University of Pittsburgh. The 14-year NFL veteran began his coaching career in 2011 with the San Francisco 49ers as an offensive assistant.
“When you combine Bobby’s NFL pedigree as a player and his coaching experience, you see why we’re excited to add him to our staff,” Ravens coach John Harbaugh said. “He comes highly recommended, he did an outstanding job at San Francisco and Pitt, and he’s an impressive person. He’ll help our receivers and our offense become better.”
Engram started his playing career in 1996 with the Chicago Bears, moved on after four years to the Seattle Seahawks and finished with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2009. He had 650 career receptions.
“What an opportunity to join a team that has won, knows how to win and does all it can to make sure they continue to win,” Engram said. “I’m ready to be part of that and ready to work.”
Engram’s addition is the latest change to a Ravens coaching staff that underwent since the end of the 2013 season the biggest transformation in Harbaugh’s six years as coach. The team recently hired Thomas Hammock as running backs coach and former Houston Texans head coach Gary Kubiak as offensive coordinator.
