Swingman Terrence Ross, who is off to the best scoring start of his four-year NBA career, signed a multiyear contract extension with the Toronto Raptors, the team announced early Tuesday morning.
The team did not disclose details of the deal, but multiple media outlets reported that it was for three years and $33 million.
Ross, 24, is averaging 12.3 points, 2.7 rebounds and 17 minutes through the Raptors’ first three games. He scored 21 points in 21 minutes Friday in a road win over the Boston Celtics.
“Terrence has shown growth with each season,” Raptors general manager Masai Ujiri said in a statement released by the team. “We are excited that he will be part of what we are building in Toronto. He is a great teammate and has worked hard to become one of our best shooters.”
Ross matched the franchise single-game record by scoring 51 points on Jan. 25, 2014, against the visiting Los Angeles Clippers. In that contest, he established career highs for field goals made (16), 3-pointers made (10), free throws made (9) and minutes played (44).
After averaging 10.9 points and 3.1 rebounds per game in 2013-14, Ross saw his numbers dip slightly last season to 9.8 points and 2.8 rebounds.
Ross was the eighth overall pick in the 2012 draft out of the University of Washington.
