DETROIT — Rain has postponed what could be the deciding Game 4 of the American League Championship Series.

Major League Baseball officials waited as long as they could, but when it became apparent around 9:15 pm ET that rain would not let up any time soon, it was decided to postpone the game until Thursday.

The tentative first pitch Thursday is slated for 4:07 pm ET, according to AL officials. Some reports immediately after Wednesday’s game was called said the postponed contest would start perhaps at 7 pm ET, but that has not been confirmed.

The Detroit Tigers lead the visiting New York Yankees 3-0 in the best of seven game ALCS. The winner of the series will face the winner of the St. Louis Cardinals-San Francisco Giants National League Championship Series in the World Series.
