Defensive lineman Tommy Kelly, who signed a seven-year, $50.1 million contract in 2008, will be released by the Oakland Raiders.
Kelly, scheduled to earn $6.5 million in 2013, played nine seasons for the Raiders.
Releasing Kelly, 32, saves the Raiders $4.77 million against the 2013 salary cap. General manager Reggie McKenzie has been focused on the team’s cap this offseason, releasing wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey, defensive end Dave Tollefson and defensive back Michael Huff.
