Former Oregon quarterback Jake Rodrigues is transferring to San Diego State, according to Rivals.com.

The redshirt sophomore will sit out this season due to NCAA transfer rules and will have two years of eligibility starting in 2015.

According to the report, Rodrigues filled out the necessary paperwork with San Diego State and was approved by the school’s compliance office.

The former four-star recruit from Rocklin, Calif. also considered Texas.

“(Quarterback coach Brian Sipe) talked about me just making plays and leading the team, putting our players in the right situation, being a leader, throwing the ball in the right place and being accurate,” Rodrigues said last week. “They’re really excited, I’m really excited and I can’t wait to see what comes of this.”

Rodrigues announced earlier this month that he was leaving Oregon after he was unable to separate himself from Jeff Lockie this spring in the competition to back up starter Marcus Mariota.

In seven games last season, Rodrigues completed three of six passes for 67 yards with a one touchdown and one interception.
