The Dallas Police Department said on Saturday that quarterback Johnny Manziel remains under investigation for an incident of possible domestic violence on Jan. 30 involving his former girlfriend, Colleen Crowley.
However, nothing has been determined about the possibility of potential charges against the troubled Manziel, who figures to be released by the Cleveland Browns in the coming weeks.
“We’re letting the officer and detective do their due diligence,” a police spokesman said. “We want to make sure all the facts are there and clear, and we’ll present it to the prosecutors.
“The detective hasn’t gotten all the facts yet. She’s still putting it all together. It’s been two weeks since this investigation started and it is high profile and we realize you guys want to know what’s going on. That’s why we’re out here today.”
The spokesman said the department was not sure whether Manziel, if he is arrested — would be arrested via warrant or via a grand jury.
A report on Friday indicated police obtained medical records from Crowley relating to an alleged ear injury that she claims to have sustained when she was struck by Manziel.
Crowley’s attorney said earlier she sustained a broken eardrum during the incident.
