University of Pittsburgh lost starting center Artie Rowell for the season with a torn ACL in his left knee.
Rowell was injured during the second quarter of the Panthers’ win over Boston College on Friday night.
It is not clear when Rowell will have surgery.
“I know I speak for our entire team in saying we are very disappointed for Artie,” Pittsburgh coach Paul Chryst said in a statement. “I’m certain he will attack his rehabilitation with everything he has to get himself ready for next season.”
Rowell has one year of eligibility remaining. He had started 15 straight games for Pitt.
Rowell is ranked the No. 16 center for 2016 by NFLDraftScout.com.
