Detroit Pistons point guard Brandon Jennings has been cleared by doctors to continue a steady progression of basketball-related rehabilitation activities geared towards a return to the court.
The 6-foot-1 Jennings suffered a ruptured left Achilles tendon during the Jan. 24 game at Milwaukee and he missed the remainder of last season.
The Pistons announced Monday that Jennings’ progression will consist of strength work, conditioning and cardiovascular exercises, and then finally a return to team practices and full-contact related drills. No timetable has been established for his return.
In 41 games last season, Jennings averaged 15.4 points, 6.6 assists and 1.07 steals in 28.6 minutes.
The Pistons also announced the signing of forward Eric Griffin and center Jordan Bachynski to training camp contracts.
The 6-8, 205-pound Griffin played for the Texas Legends of the NBA Developmental League last season. In 49 games, he averaged 19.0 points, 6.6 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 1.3 steals and 2.4 blocks in 35.2 minutes.
The 7-2, 248-pound Bachynski split time between the Westchester Knicks of the NBA D-League and Eskisehir Basket of the Turkish Basketball League. In 18 games with Westchester, he averaged 6.6 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.2 blocks in 19.0 minutes.
