The Pittsburgh Pirates reinstated left-handed relief pitcher Antonio Bastardo from paternity leave on Friday.
Bastardo has a 6.43 ERA with nine strikeouts and four walks in seven innings this season.
To make room on the roster, the Pirates optioned left-hander Bobby LaFromboise to Triple-A Indianapolis. He pitched one scoreless inning against Philadelphia on Thursday.
