The Pittsburgh Pirates acquired catcher Francisco Cervelli from the New York Yankees in exchange for left-handed pitcher Justin Wilson, the Yankees announced Wednesday.

The acquisition of Cervelli may mean the Pirates are not counting on Russell Martin being back with them next season. Martin, a free agent, reportedly is seeking something around a five-year, $85 million deal.

Cervelli, 28, hit .301 with two homers and 13 RBIs for the Yankees in 2014, but he played in just 49 games.

Wilson, 27, was 3-4 with a 4.20 ERA in 70 appearances with Pittsburgh in 2014.
