The New Orleans Pelicans announced the signing of rookie center Jeff Withey. Terms were not disclosed.
Withey was selected No. 39 overall by the Portland Trail Blazers in the NBA Draft, and was dealt to New Orleans as part of a three-team deal that also sent guard Tyreke Evans to the Pelicans from the Sacramento Kings.
Withey set the Big 12 career record with 312 blocks, and left Kansas as the two-time reigning defensive player of the year in the conference.
