The San Diego Padres will place second baseman Jedd Gyorko on the paternity list, according to reports Monday.
The Padres will also recall infielder Tommy Medica from Triple-A Tucson, 1090-AM in San Diego reported.
Gyorko will miss Monday’s game against the San Francisco Giants and might miss the entire three-game series.
Gyorko’s wife, Karley, was due with twin boys.
Under the current collective bargaining agreement, a player on the paternity list is allowed up to a three-day absence.
Gyorko, 25, signed a six-year, $35 million contract extension earlier this month that will keep him with the Padres through at least 2019.
Gyorko is hitting just .144, with one home run and nine RBIs, through 26 games this season.
