Quarterback Aaron Rodgers took part in position drills in Tuesday’s practice portion open to the media, one day after Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy said the chances of Rodgers playing Thursday at Detroit were “slim to none.”
Rodgers is recovering from a broken collarbone. He said last week he wants to play in the Thanksgiving Day game against the NFC North-leading Lions. McCarthy, though, said part of his job is protect Rodgers from himself.
That likely means not exposing him to possible re-injury.
The light work with quarterbacks Matt Flynn and Scott Tolzien does not mean Rodgers was cleared for contact.
McCarthy addresses the media Tuesday afternoon, when an update on Rodgers is expected.
