Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers will not play in Sunday’s game against Atlanta, and Matt Flynn will be the Packers’ starting quarterback against the Falcons.

Packers coach Mike McCarthy made the announcement Friday.

Rodgers will miss his fifth consecutive start because of a collarbone injury. He has said he wants to play, but the Packers will not put him in a game until he is cleared by the Packers’ doctors.

“Aaron’s frustrated,” McCarthy said. “We’re in meetings all day together. He’s like every other player fighting to get on the field.”

With four regular-season games remaining, it is unclear whether the Rodgers will return this season.

The Packers (5-6-1) desperately need to beat the Falcons to have a chance to land aplayoff berth.
