On Monday, Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy said linebacker Nick Perry was headed for a second opinion on his sprained left knee.
A day later, the injury and Perry’s outlook might be far different.
Lance Allan of WTMJ-TV in Milwaukee reported that Perry underwent surgery on his left wrist, and that the rookie likely is headed to the season-ending injured reserve list.
Perry, a first-round pick this year out of USC, started five of the first six games for Green Bay this season. He sat out the past three games due to the knee injury.
Perry injured his knee Oct. 14 against the Houston Texans. ESPNMilwaukee.com reported that Perry hurt his wrist in the season opener against the San Francisco 49ers, but the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported that the wrist injury occurred in the season’s second game, against the Chicago Bears.
With the Packers heading into their bye week, McCarthy isn’t expected to be available to the media until Monday, the Journal Sentinel and ESPNMilwaukee.com reported.
Perry, 22, has 18 tackles (13 solo), two sacks and a pass defensed for the Packers this year.
