The Indiana Pacers re-signed veteran free agent guard Rodney Stuckey on Tuesday to a reported three-year, $21 million contract.

The 6-foot-5 Stuckey averaged 12.6 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.1 assists and shot career bests of 44 percent from the field and 39 percent from 3-point range in 71 games for the Pacers last season.

Stuckey started 36 games n 2014-15 for Indiana but found a niche as the team’s sixth man.

“I felt all along it was important to re-sign Rodney,” Pacers president of basketball operations Larry Bird said in a statement. “He proved to us last year how much he could help. He’s a pro and a good teammate. We’re really happy to have him back. He added a lot to our team, on and off the court.”

Stuckey, 29, spent his first seven seasons with the Detroit Pistons, who selected him in the first round of the 2007 NBA Draft. He has a career scoring average of 13.4 points per game.
