The Baltimore Orioles refused to pick up the $11 million option yera on first baseman Mark Reynolds’ contract but exercised the $1 million option on reliever Luis Ayala’s 2013 contract.
The Orioles have until Nov. 30 to offer arbitration to Reynolds before he becomes a free agent, MLB.com reported. Reynolds’ 2011 salary was $7.5 million.
The 29-year-old Reynolds, who moved from third base to first this past season, hit .225 with 23 homers, a decline from his 37 homers in 2011.
Ayala, 34, went 5-5 with a 2.64 ERA and one save in 66 regular-season games.
