The Baltimore Orioles and right-hander Yovani Gallardo reached agreement on a three-year, $35 million contract on Saturday, according to published reports.
Signing Gallardo will cost Baltimore a first-round draft pick because Gallardo received and rejected a qualifying offer from the Texas Rangers, his former team.
Gallardo, 29, went 13-11 with a 3.42 ERA for Texas last season. He made 33 starts, marking the seventh straight campaign in which he started at least 30 games and pitched at least 180 innings.
Gallardo has a 102-75 career mark and 3.66 ERA in nine major-league seasons. He spent his first eight years with the Milwaukee Brewers and was a National League All-Star in 2010.
There is also reportedly a fourth-year option for $13 million.
