The Washington Redskins on Wednesday announced that free agent safety Tanard Jackson has elected to re-sign with the team.

As per team policy, the length or salary amount of the new deal was not disclosed.

Jackson had been released by the Redskins on Tuesday after being suspended since 2012 due to a violation of the NFL’s substance abuse policy, causing him to miss the 2012 and 2013 seasons.

Just hours after being reinstated by the NFL, Jackson was released by the Redskins. His reinstatement by the NFL is conditional.

“He’s been conditionally reinstated by the NFL,” team general manager Bruce Allen said Tuesday, according to The Washington Post. “If he meets all of those conditions that the NFL has laid out for him, and after we meet with him, we might give him a chance. Yes.”

Jackson is able to participate in offseason and preseason activities and his reinstatement will be reviewed prior to the start of the regular season.
