Ohio State running back Carlos Hyde will not be charged in the alleged assault last month that led to his suspension from the Buckeyes’ football team last week.

Hyde, who rushed for 970 yards and 16 touchdowns in 2012, was barred from team activities by coach Urban Meyer last Monday. His reinstatement remains open pending the outcome of the student code of conduct investigation.

Columbus police closed their investigation Tuesday into the July 20 incident in which a 19-year-old woman was the alleged victim. She declined to press charges.

Meyer last season reinstated tight end Jake Stoneburner and linebacker Storm Klein to the team but faced team discipline. Klein served a two-game suspension.
