Ohio State wide receiver Austin Mack will be sidelined indefinitely as he recovers from surgery on his left foot.

Mack underwent surgery on his foot Monday, multiple media outlets reported. Austin Ward of Lettermen Row first reported the news.

The junior’s 26 receptions are good enough for third-best on the Buckeyes while his 331 yards receiving are the fourth highest on the team. He also has a touchdown catch.

Mack had one catch for 24 yards in Ohio State’s 49-20 loss to Purdue on Saturday before exiting the contest in the second half. He was spotted on crutches after the setback to the Boilermakers.

The 6-foot-2, 215-pound Mack is coming off a fine sophomore campaign in which he grabbed 24 passes for 343 yards and two touchdowns.

With Mack sidelined, Binjimen Victor likely will be asked to step up in his absence. Victor, who is listed as Mack’s backup on the latest depth chart, has 14 receptions for 236 yards and three touchdowns this season.

The 6-4, 200-pound Victor had five catches for 67 yards against Purdue on Saturday

Parris Campbell has a team-leading 52 catches and K.J. Hill has a club-best 656 receiving yards for Ohio State (7-1, 3-1), which hosts Nebraska on Nov. 3.
