The Denver Nuggets might be forced to play without a true point guard for a few more games after suffering the latest casualty at the position.
Ty Lawson suffered a fractured rib during Saturday night’s game against the Detroit Pistons and could be out until after the NBA All-Star Game break this weekend.
His backups also are not available. Nate Robinson is out for the season after knee surgery and Andre Miller is not with the team.
“I would imagine it would be a little while,” Nuggets coach Brian Shaw said of Lawson’s return, according to the Denver Post. “I saw when he (got injured), how he writhed in pain, and it took him pretty much until (Monday) to be able to sit up straight.
Luckily for us, after (Monday’s) game and Wednesday’s game, we have the all-star break, so that will give us a built-in three, four, five days before our next game.”
Without Lawson, the Nuggets were sluggish offensively on Monday night in a 119-80 loss to the Indiana Pacers. Randy Foye started at the point, and Evan Fournier and Jordan Hamilton shared point duties off the bench against the Pacers.
The Nuggets (24-26) have lost three straight games.
