
New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz sprained his ankle midway through the second quarter of Sunday’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles and did not return.
Giants left guard Justin Pugh was also injured, spraining his right knee during the first quarter.
Pugh was scheduled to have an MRI sometime Sunday night, according to Pro Football Talk.
Cruz had X-rays during the game. The Record reported the X-rays were negative and he was diagnosed with a low ankle sprain, pending further tests.
–Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Jeremy Maclin left Sunday’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars in the first quarter with a groin injury and did not return.
The Chiefs are now without their starting quarterback Alex Smith (head trauma), starting running back Spencer Ware (concussion) and Maclin, their No. 1 wide receiver.
Jacksonville running back Denard Robinson sustained a back strain in the first quarter. He returned to special teams duty late in the first half.
Jaguars wide receiver Allen Hurns was helped off the field early in the third quarter with an injury to his right ankle.
–Cleveland Browns center Cameron Erving and Dallas Cowboys defensive end David Irving were ejected after they scuffled on a third-down passing play.
The two players fought after Browns quarterback Cody Kessler threw an incomplete pass from the Dallas 13-yard line with 12:44 left in the first quarter.
Erving and Irving were tangled and on the ground as officials tried to separate them. It appeared that Erving grabbed Irving’s helmet and then threw it at him.
Both were penalized and then referee Jeff Triplette ejected the players.
–Green Bay Packers outside linebacker Clay Matthews missed another week with his hamstring injury, sitting out against the Indianapolis Colts.
Matthews indicated earlier in the week that he would play at Lambeau Field after missing last Sunday’s loss to the Atlanta Falcons with the injury.
Packers wide receiver Randall Cobb returned to the lineup after dealing with a hamstring injury.
Cornerback Quinten Rollins also returned after missing the past three games because of a groin injury.
–New York Jets quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick left the game against the Miami Dolphins with an injury to his left knee.
Fitzpatrick missed one series and then returned.
Fitzpatrick left the game with 47 seconds left in the third quarter. The injury apparently occurred when Fitzpatrick was hit by Dolphins defensive tackle Jordan Phillips on the previous play. Phillips was penalized for roughing the passer.
–Minnesota Vikings cornerback Captain Munnerlyn left against the Detroit Lions with an ankle/knee injury.
According to the team, Munnerlyn was getting X-rays.
After being announced as questionable to return, Munnerlyn was back on the field for a few plays before going back to the locker room. On the first series, he was replaced in the slot by rookie Mackensie Alexander.
–Pittsburgh Steelers center Maurkice Pouncey returned to for the game against the Baltimore Ravens in the first quarter after previously exiting with a finger injury.
Pouncey, who initially injured the finger on the second play of the game, reinjured the digit in the second half.
