Boston Celtics forward Gerald Wallace will miss the remainder of the season after arthroscopic surgery on his left knee and left ankle.
The procedures, performed by Celtics team physician Brian McKeon and Dr. Mark Slovenkai, included the repair of a torn meniscus in the knee and removing bone spurs in the ankle, the team announced Tuesday.
In his first season with the Celtics, the 6-foot-7 Wallace averaged 5.1 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.3 steals in 58 games. He was part of an offseason trade that included veterans Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett moving from Boston to Brooklyn.
Wallace hopes to be back at full strength by training camp next season.
—The Charlotte Bobcats signed center Justin Hamilton to a 10-day contract on Tuesday.
Hamilton joins the Bobcats from the Sioux Falls Skyforce of the NBA Development League.
In 37 games played for the Skyforce this season, the 7-foot-0 Hamilton is averaging 19.3 points, 9.2 rebounds, 2.0 blocks and 1.5 assists in 35.8 minutes. Hamilton leads in the D-League in offensive rebounding and ranks fifth in blocks, sixth in rebounding and 16th in scoring. Hamilton was selected by the Philadelphia 76ers with the 45th overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft.
—The Cleveland Cavaliers signed forward/center Arinze Onuaku from their NBA Development League team to a second 10-day contract on Tuesday.
Onuaku has appeared in 27 games for the Canton Charge this season with averages of 14.4 points, 9.7 rebounds and 1.0 block in 24.2 minutes per game. He was available for Tuesday night’s game in Cleveland against the San Antonio Spurs.
