Washington outfielder Bryce Harper set a record on Tuesday without even stepping into the batter’s box.

Harper set the all-time, single-season National League voting record for the All-Star Game with 9,224,370 votes.

That’s 1.5 million more votes than the previous record of 7,621,370 votes set by San Francisco Giants catcher Buster Posey in 2012.

With more than a week before the voting period ends on July 2 at 11:59 p.m., Harper is sure to put more distance between Posey.

The 22-year-old Las Vegas native was batting .345 heading into Tuesday’s game against the Atlanta Braves. He already has belted a career-high 24 home runs and driven in 57 runs. His .735 slugging percentage is the league’s highest.
