The Seattle Mariners will not go to arbitration with first baseman-outfielder Logan Morrison after the two sides agreed to a one-year, $1.75 million contract, according to a report.
Morrison sought $2.5 million and the Mariners offered $1.1 million in negotiations. The deal includes a potential $350,000 in incentives, CBSSports.com reported Tuesday.
The Mariners acquired Morrison from the Miami Marlins in December for right-handed reliever Carter Capps.
The 25-year-old Morrison has struggled the past two years with injuries. He batted .242 with six home runs in 85 games for the Marlins last season. But he does have some pop in his bat, hitting 23 homers for the Marlins in 2011.
Morrison is expected to share duty in the Seattle outfield, at first base and at DH with Corey Hart, who also was acquired by the Mariners during the offseason, and Justin Smoak.
