
—Free-agent outfielder Torii Hunter is scheduled to meet with the Detroit Tigers Tuesday, according to a FOXSports.com report.
The 37-year-old is reportedly seeking a two-year deal. He had previously been linked to the Los Angeles Dodgers, but an ESPNLosAngeles.com report Tuesday said that the team was out of the bidding.
Hunter is coming off the final season of an eight-year, $90-million contract with the Los Angeles Angels signed before the 2008 season. He batted .313 in 534 at-bats with the Angels in 2012, with 16 home runs and 92 RBI.
—The Cleveland Indians, Philadelphia Phillies and Los Angeles Dodgers are among the teams that have shown early interest in free-agent Kevin Youkilis, according to a FOXSports.com report. Youkilis posted a career-low .745 OPS last season, but can play first and third base.
—Free agent pitcher Scott Baker signed a one-year deal with the Chicago Cubs on Tuesday.
The terms of the deal weren’t known. Baker, 31, is returning from Tommy John surgery, and could be ready in the early part of the season, barring setbacks.
—Cleveland Indians outfielder Shin-Soo Choo isn’t expected to play for South Korea in the World Baseball Classic, as he puts his focus on his 2013 walk year.
Choo will also be a target of multiple trade rumors this winter. South Korea reached the semifinals of the inaugural WBC in 2006, and lost to Japan in the 2009 finals.
