Mississippi State, East Carolina in top 25

Mississippi State and East Carolina made it into the Associated Press top 25 poll, which was released Sunday.

Mississippi State was previously in the top 25 two years ago while East Carolina is in the poll for the first time since 2008.

The top seven teams remained the same as last week. No. 1 Florida State received 34 first-place votes and No. 2 Oregon got 12 first-place votes. Three other teams picked up first-place votes including No. 3 Alabama (six), No. 4 Oklahoma (four) and No. 6 Texas A&M (four). Auburn is still No. 5 and Baylor stayed at No. 7.

The rest of the top 10 was Notre Dame, Michigan State and Ole Miss.

Mississippi State is No. 14 after upsetting LSU 34-29.

East Carolina entered the poll at No. 23 after winning a 70-41 shootout over North Carolina.
