
Ohio State’s Braxton Miller and Florida State’s EJ Manuel were among 10 quarterbacks added to college football’s Manning Award watch list.
Also among the newcomers at the midpoint of the season were Texas A&M freshman Johnny Manziel, Oregon’s Marcus Mariota and Louisiana Tech’s Colby Cameron.
Miller has led Ohio State to a 7-0 record, rushing for 912 yards and nine touchdowns and passing for 1,271 yards and 11 TDs. Manuel has passed for 1,804 yards and 14 touchdowns for Florida State.
Manziel has completed 67.4 percent of his passes for 1,680 yards and 14 touchdowns while rushing for 676 yards and 10 TDs. Cameron has thrown for 1,906 yards and 19 touchdowns with no interceptions.
Before the season, 25 quarterbacks were named to the watch list, including West Virginia’s Geno Smith, Kansas State’s Collin Klein and USC’s Matt Bartley.
The award, named in honor of Archie, Peyton and Eli Manning, is sponsored by the Sugar Bowl.
