Pitcher Daisuke Matsuzaka has agreed to re-sign with the New York Mets, accepting a minor-league deal that includes an invitation to spring training, HardballTalk.com reported Friday.

Matsuzaka, 33, has had only limited success since his second season in the Major Leagues in 2008 with the Boston Red Sox. He went 18-3 with a 2.90 earned-run average that season.

In 2013, while playing for the Mets, he went 3-3 with a 4.42 ERA in seven appearances, all starts. He spent much of the season at the Triple-A level.
