Miami Marlins right-hander Carter Capps will miss the 2016 season recovering from Tommy John surgery.
Capps missed two months last season and significant time in 2014 with elbow soreness. The Marlins shut him down the first week of spring training to send him to visit Dr. James Andrews.
Capps felt a bite in his right elbow during batting practice. He told the South Florida Sun-Sentinel an MRI was “inconclusive. You know it’s there, but you don’t know if it’s old, you don’t know if it’s new.”
If everything goes according to plan, Capps could be back for Opening Day 2017.
