Marlins 1B Morse heads to DL

The Miami Marlins placed first baseman Michael Morse on the disabled list Tuesday with a sprained right ring finger.

The move is retroactive to Sunday. Morse last played on May 21.

In 37 games for the Marlins this year, Morse has struggled, batting .211 with two home runs and 10 RBIs after signing a two-year, $16 million contract with Miami during the offseason..

With Morse out of action, rookie Justin Bour will continue to play first base. Bour already was in the lineup in place of Morse after having success in Triple-A

The 33-year-old Morse played for the San Francisco Giants last year and batted .279 in 131 games with 16 home runs and 61 RBIs.
