The Seattle Mariners are buying a controlling stake in the Root Sports Northwest television network that broadcasts its games as well as other regional sports events.
In Tuesday’s announcement, the Mariners said the network will continue operating under the Root Sports brand, and will televise Mariners baseball through the end of the 2030 season. The network will continue to air other professional, college and high-school sports during the year.
DirecTV Sports Networks shift to minority ownership role, but continue to oversee the new TV network, the team said.
