Orlando Magic general manager Alex Martins wrote a letter to fans Monday saying the franchise did everything it could to keep center Dwight Howard before finally trading him to the Los Angeles Lakers.
“We had extensive conversations in regard to his future in Orlando, exhausting all possible options,” Martins wrote to season ticket holders, according to the Orlando Sentinel. “At the end of the day, we were not able to receive a commitment from him beyond this season.”
Howard was dealt to the Lakers last week as part of a massive four-team trade.
