RENTON, Wash. — A notable absence at the beginning of the Seattle Seahawks’ organized team activities on the field last week, running back Marshawn Lynch was in attendance at Tuesday’s OTA workout.
Lynch got some work with the team’s first-unit offense during practice, and appeared in shape and explosive. He did not talk with reporters after practice.
“We weren’t too worried about him,” Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman said. “You know he’s a great competitor, a great athlete and a great leader on this team. So, you knew wherever he was, he was working hard, and doing whatever he could for this ball club.
“Until September, we’re not too worried about what No. 24 is doing. No. 24 is a great ball player and a great teammate. So we know he’ll be prepared.”
Offensive lineman John Moffitt was excused from practice on Tuesday to apparently handle a legal matter.
According to 710 ESPN Seattle, Moffitt was appearing in court for misdemeanor charges of trespassing and obstruction of law enforcement.
The hearing took place at Bellevue District Court. Moffitt has another hearing scheduled for June 14.
Moffitt’s legal trouble represents the third issue with the law for a Seattle player this season.
Linebacker Leroy Hill was arrested for an alleged domestic disturbance in February. A free agent, Hill has not re-signed with Seattle or any NFL team.
Backup quarterback Josh Portis was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol earlier this month. The Seahawks released Portis last week.
Moffitt is one of seven Seattle players since 2011 to run afoul of the NFL’s policy on performance enhancing drugs.
Moffitt was suspended for the last four weeks of the 2011 for taking a drug used to treat hyperactivity. Moffitt did not pre-clear taking the drug with the league.
A third-round selection by the Seahawks in the 2011 draft, Moffitt has started 15 games for Seattle over two seasons. However, in 2012 he lost his starting right guard job to J.R. Sweezy.
