Star running back Leonard Fournette is a game-day decision for LSU’s home opener against Jacksonville State on Saturday.
LSU coach Les Miles said Fournette’s availability isn’t assured in a video posted on the school’s website on Friday. The Heisman Trophy candidate injured his left ankle in mid-August and reinjured it during last Saturday’s 16-14 loss to Wisconsin.
“I think Leonard Fournette is a go or, if not a go, we won’t know until game day,” Miles said.
Miles has been less than forthcoming all week on whether or not Fournette has practiced.
Fournette hasn’t been allowed to speak to reporters this week and wasn’t made available after the loss to the Badgers.
The Heisman Trophy candidate had 138 yards on 29 carries against Wisconsin. The defeat knocked the Tigers from No. 5 to 21 in the national rankings.
Sophomore Derrius Grice is the likely starter if LSU elects to hold out Fournette.
