The Detroit Lions signed free agent cornerbacks Aaron Hester and Nate Ness, the team announced Monday.
Hester, 24, joins the Lions secondary after spending time in training camp with the Denver Broncos last season. He was signed by the Broncos as an undrafted rookie free agent out of UCLA in 2013, but was trimmed from the roster in final cuts. He hasn’t played in a regular-season NFL game.
Hester (6-foot-1, 207 pounds) is the cousin of Pro Bowl NFL return specialist Devin Hester.
Ness, 27, last played in the NFL with the St. Louis Rams in 2011, and saw action with both the Miami Dolphins and Seattle Seahawks in 2010, as well as practice squad time with the New York Jets (2009) and Washington Redskins (2011).
An undrafted rookie free agent out of Arizona in 2009, Ness (6-1, 190) has played in eight career games (one start) with five tackles.
