The Detroit Lions hired David Walker to be their running backs coach, the team announced Monday.
Reports of the move first leaked Saturday.
Walker, 46, previously was on the staff of current Lions head coach Jim Caldwell when they were with the Colts. Walker was Indianapolis’ running backs coach from 2011-14.
Walker spent 15 years coaching at the college level before joining Indianapolis.
The Lions’ running back coach job was vacate when Curtis Modkins left to become the San Francisco 49ers’ offensive coordinator.
Detroit ranked last in the NFL in rushing yards per game this season.
