Lindy’s Week Three Awards: Hubbard, Kansas honored

Players of the Week

OFFENSIVE:

Oklahoma State boasts some of the greatest runners ever in college football. Chuba Hubbard may one day make that list. Just a sophomore, the Alberta, Canada native is the nation’s leading rusher. Against Tulsa, he ran for 256 yards, averaging eight yards per carry and scored three touchdowns, already giving him seven rushing scores this season.

DEFENSIVE:

Maryland entered the game with Temple averaging 71 points, 636 total yards and 335 rushing yards. Not anymore! The Owls dominated the Terps offense, allowing just 340 total yards in a 20-17 win. Redshirt defensive tackle Ifeanyi Miajeh played a key role with six tackles, three tackles for loss and two sacks in the victory.

Upset of the Week

Beware “The Hat” … again. Kansas was a three-touchdown underdog when it played at Boston College, which had opened the season defeating Virginia Tech. The Jayhawks, under new head coach Les Miles, had not won a road game against a Power 5 Conference team in 11 years — 48 consecutive losses. But just a week after an embarrassing home loss to Coastal Carolina, the visitors scored 27 unanswered points and held the Eagles scoreless in the second half in a 48-24 win.
