Chicago Cubs manager on Monday named left-hander Jon Lester to be the opening night starter against the St. Louis Cardinals.
The Cubs signed Lester to a six-year, $155 million contract in December. Lester, who will be starting on Opening Day for the fifth straight season, pitched last season for the Boston Red Sox.
Lester is scheduled to make his spring training debut Friday against the Cincinnati Reds.
