Pittsburgh Steelers backup quarterback Byron Leftwich, filling in for injured starter Ben Roethlisberger, sustained rib and shoulder injuries against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday night.

CBS Sports reported Monday that the Steelers are worried that Leftwich may be “out for a while,” according to a source.

The Steelers, who lost to the Ravens 13-10, are expected to try out quarterbacks this week.

Leftwich reportedly got hurt going into the end zone on his 31-yard touchdown run in the first quarter, but stayed in the game.

Charlie Batch was the only other quarterback on the Steelers’ roster.

Roethlisberger, who is also out with rib and shoulder injuries, could miss up to three more weeks. Sports Illustrated reported that a thoracic surgeon said Roethlisberger could be at risk of nerve damage if he comes back before fully healthy.
