The Miami Dolphins will name Philadelphia Eagles quarterback coach Bill Lazor as their new offensive coordinator, ESPN reported Wednesday.
Lazor, 41, will replace Mike Sherman, who was fired after two seasons as Miami’s offensive coordinator. The Detroit Lions were reported to be close to hiring Lazor for the same position.
The Dolphins also interviewed former Washington Redskins offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan for the job.
Lazor was praised for his work with Eagles second-year quarterback Nick Foles this season. The Dolphins are hoping that Lazor can produce similar results with quarterback Ryan Tannehill.
Labor’s coaching resume includes three seasons as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the Virginia Cavaliers and as quarterbacks coach for the Seattle Seahawks and the Washington Redskins.
