Kentucky’s official website on Sunday that Phillips will not be returning next season.

Phillips will remain the Wildcats head coach for the rest of the regular season, and Banrhart said, the “search for a new head coach will begin immediately and will be managed internally.”
Phillips was an assistant coach at Kentucky in 2008 when he was named coach-in-waiting, and he became the head coach in 2010 when Rich Brooks retired.

Phillips has a 12-23 record at Kentucky, including 4-19 in SEC play. This season, the Wildcats are 1-9 and 0-7.
