New York Jets wide receiver Brandon Marshall was cleared in a civil suit Friday brought by a woman who alleged she was punched outside a Manhattan nightclub four years ago.
The jury in Manhattan federal court decided that the woman did not prove she was hit by Marshall.
Christin Myles of Chino, Calif., testified she was punched by Marshall in March 2012 during a brawl outside the nightclub. She was seeking at least $75,000 in damages.
Marshall, who was never criminally charged, told the jury Thursday that he feared for his life while fleeing the nightclub after fights broke out. Marshall said he did not hit Myles.
Marshall testified he saw men chasing him and his longtime friend, former NFL receiver Mike Sims-Walker, outside the Marquee nightclub and thought “no way we’ll survive this. If you fall, you’re dead. I was pretty hysterical.”
The jury sided with Marshall, who was found not liable for any injuries Myles may have sustained.
