Jets could extend window for Otah trade

The Jets could extend the seven-day window for offensive tackle Jeff Otah to pass his physical and complete his acquisition from the Panthers.

Otah failed his entrance physical with the Jets and has been on the physically unable to perform list. He’s doing some individual rehabilitation work with team trainers at training camp in SUNY-Cortland but said Monday he wasn’t sure he would pass a physical today by 4 p.m., the contingency deadline the two teams agreed to for Otah to be cleared medically and officially complete the deal.

The initial physical was failed because tests showed fluid around the knee, Otah said.

If the deal is voided, the Panthers could decide to release Otah, who has missed 28 of 32 games the past two seasons because of lingering knee issues.
