Utah rookie point guard Trey Burke suffered a broken finger on his right hand during a preseason loss to the Los Angeles Clippers, the Jazz announced Saturday night.
The No. 9 pick in the 2013 NBA Draft out of Michigan is out indefinitely. The finger will be re-evaluated after he visits a specialist and undergoes more tests on Monday.
Burke, who is considered a strong NBA Rookie of the Year candidate, made 1 of 6 shots from the field and had two points, four assists and two turnovers before he left the game against the Clippers. The injury occurred during the first quarter, but Burke returned with his fingers taped and played for a few minutes in the second quarter before departing.
“It’s really hard to explain where it’s at because pretty much my whole finger is hurting,” Burke said.
